Eagle’s Lake is a mixed carp and catfish lake with of approx 2.2 acres with a central island linked to the mainland by ‘The Bridge of Death’. In front of this bridge is a large double swim allowing anglers to fish to the left or right of the island.
This lake, as with the other lakes on the complex, is clay based with areas of silt and exposed gravel. There are not known to be any snags within the lake but redundant root systems and undercuts in the banks do exist. There are no areas of weed and to date there have been no episodes of algal growth.
The lake contains carp, grass carp, catfish, zander and roach.
Carp are known to reach 53lbs with an average weight of approx 28lbs with numerous 30s, 40s and at least two 50lb carp. ‘RibEye Pete’, a mirror has been seen at 53lb and ‘Big Jeff’ at 50lb4oz, a common. Successive nettings and stock management of the carp should mean that there are very few carp below 20lbs in the lake. With most of the carp being a Czech/Hungarian strain they are prone to put on weight at a reasonable rate. There are known to be 3 grass carp within the lake up to approx 28lbs.
The wels-catfish are present in the form of large specimens. Again, through successive nettings and stock management, the majority of the catfish will be above 60lbs. There are known to be at least seven catfish over 100lbs with the largest thought to be in the region of 145lbs. There are well defined cat nests within the lake mostly to the left of the lake.
The zander are currently young (about 2/3 years) old but seem to be growing well within the lake.
The next round of new stock is scheduled for December 2025
The next scheduled netting is in the early winter of 2026

The current lake record for weight (in a week) is 2630lbs set in 2023.
The 2022/3 re-stock program introduced 23 pristine carp to the lake including mid 30’s mirrors and 30lb commons as well as 2 grass carp.

Peter’s Lake
The lake currently paired with Eagles Lake and provides a good contrast from the often high intensity experience of Eagles Lake.
This is predominantly a carp lake and is set-up to provide a growing environment for them to grow on prior to dispersal across the other lakes on the complex. Average weights are likely to be around 18lbs for the carp and as they cross over 20lbs so they are moved on to Eagles or Orchard Lakes.
In addition there are pike (around 50cm), a small number of catfish, grassies, a sturgeon (‘Nicola’) and koi carp (biggest is ‘Fanta’).
This is lake provides a great environment for not only respite from Eagles but also a safe environment for less experienced and younger anglers as well as float and lure angling. Two well defined swims provide complete access to the lake
New Stock for 2025/6
Two rounds of new stock have been introduced in the closed season. The first of these involved the introduction of 10 pike in November up to about 80cm. The purpose of this introduction was to assist the cats and zander in controlling the fry within the lake. Having made a dramatic reduction in the catfish in 2022 to 2024 we have noticed the fry has begun to survive in numbers despite making a successful netting in 2024.
The second round of delivery was in December 2025, but with a twist. At the time of the delivery we were very slowly lowering the water level on Eagles in order for us to get in there in the weeks around Christmas. Therefore, so as to not put too much stress on the new arrivals they have been put into the neighbouring Peter’s for a while!
And there are some crackers, including the stunning Bighead carp at 34lb2oz and 5 additional carp specifically for Eagles all over 30lbs.
In addition there were 18 carp between 14lbs and 19lb to be held in Peter’s until they cross over to be 21lbs upon which time they will be moved to Eagles and Orchard.
Hopefully we will be able to catch the 30lbers and bighead prior to the start of the season in March! The challenge has been made to a group of French anglers to catch these carp before that time!!
Accommodation on Eagles Lake
Prior to our arrival at the lakes in 2022 there was no accommodation on Eagles. Back then it was a walk downhill through the woods or dicing with death walking alongside Peter’s to reach the wooden chalet, now the onsite shop and kitchen at the bottom of the hill!
In the winter of 2022/3 we created a roadway up through the woodlands to the top of the hill and by some kind of engineering miracle installed a mobile home!
Rolling forward to 2026 we have fully updated the accommodation based around the mobile home with a 26m² open plan extension. Now the accommodation includes:
- Bedroom 1 with double bed
- Bedroom 2 with two single beds
- Bedroom 3 with two single beds
- Shower room with WC
- Living space with kitchen, dining and lounge area with large windows overlooking the lake
The bed linen, towels etc are all supplied.
The kitchen includes a cooker and microwave oven.
