Possibly the most diverse lake at The Famous Five in terms of its stock so offering something for everyone.
As with the other lakes it is clay based with areas of silt and exposed gravel.
The lake is home to carp (up to 42lbs), grass carp, catfish (up to 88lbs), pike (up to 85cm), zander, perch, roach, rudd and bream (very small number). This diverse nature of stock in the lake offers many challenges and opportunities!
At this time there are no prepared swims. But there are areas along the banks of the lake that provide for natural areas to fish from.
There are known to be well defined catfish nests within this lake and equally well defined patrol areas for the catfish. Equally the larger carp are normally localised to areas close to the cat nests. The carp are present from low doubles to over 40lbs in this lake.

December 2025 saw the introduction of two common carp into Birch, one at 29lb8oz and the other at 29lb11oz
